The "Bilangual" Crisis
This website will bring awareness to the Anglophone crisis going on in Cameroon

What's Going On?

English speaking Cameroonians or Anglophones make up about 20% of the population, covering the north-west region closest to Nigeria. For some time the Anglophones have been denied their constitutional rights and have been discriminated against. This has caused Anglophones to rise in rebellion to form a new country Ambazonia. The Francophone government has looked at Anglophone separatists as terrorists and claim they “attack government forces.” This view has caused the Cameroonian military to retaliate against them as well

Effects of the War

Almost 500,000 have fled in refuge. The army has burned down villages and killed unarmed citizens in Ambazonia. Some even hide in forests to run from attacks from the BIR militia. Tensions between neighboring countries are also rising. Cameroon's eceomic status is rapidly decreasing due to the wages of war.
